culture and environment
In 2006, the first solo exhibition, Culture and Environment, opened at Habesha Art Gallery, officially inaugurated by His Excellency Ambassador Mahmoud Dirir, Minister of Culture and Tourism. The works show culture and environment as one: a people’s identity rises from the soil they walk on, and in turn cares for the earth that raised it.
green beauty
In 2008, the second solo exhibition, Green Beauty, opened at the Temret Le-Hiwot Ethiopia Art Gallery. A woman becomes the color green itself, joined with nature as one source of life, growing, nurturing, and endlessly renewing.
sabawi
In 2011, at the Ethiopia National Theatre Art Gallery, Sabawi honored the craftsmen of the artist’s birthplace. The name itself is a gift: it is given to the one whose hands have been shaped for making. Each work pays tribute to these makers, whose skill is passed down like a blessing, turning clay, thread, and wood into the living memory of a community.
